HBO Max has given a series order to AND JUST LIKE THAT… a new chapter of the groundbreaking HBO series, “Sex and the City,” from executive producer Michael Patrick King, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.
The new Max Original series is based on the book, “Sex and the City,” by Candice Bushnell and the original TV series created by Darren Star. The series will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s. The ten-episode, half-hour series is scheduled to begin production in New York late spring.
Where is “Samantha” though? The offscreen drama between stars Sarah Jessica Parker (who played Carrie Bradshaw) and Kim Cattrall (who played Samantha Jones) is no secret. The duo denied there was bad blood between them until they couldn’t hide it anymore.
In 2018 following the unexpected the death of Cattrall’s brother, Parker sent her condolences to which Cattrall responded on a post on Instagram saying that Parker is neither her family nor her friend, calling her both “cruel” and a “hypocrite.” She also shared a link to a Page Six story that alleges that a “mean girls” culture was the real reason for the show ending.
So…while it’s exciting to see Sex and The City back, some of us will dearly miss the spark and fun that Samantha added to the series.
