Prepare to sleep in just a little more if you, or your child is in a California school. On Sunday Governor Newsom sign into law new legislation mandating later start time for schools. California is the first state to enact later start times and schools will have 3 years to adapt.
Studies have show that when school starts a little later, teens are generally healthier and perform better academically. Check out a study by the sleep research society here.
Under the new law middle schools will not be allowed to start before 8:00am and high school will have to start after 8:30am.
Let us know what you think of this. How will it affect kids and the parents who take them to school?
