Biography: He is the son of a rich Mexican businessman of Egyptian descent and a talented Brazilian singer from Ipanema. He began his career singing in bohemian Clubs along with the famous Cubans, Amaury Guitierrez and Pancho Céspedes. His father wanted him to be a businessman. He studied business and worked in his company for a couple of years. When he was 20, he told his father that he wasn’t happy with his life and that his dream was to be a singer, and he accepted. He studied opera and theater for some time.

Jaime is one of the most well known actors in Latin America. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2006 at Ariel Awards and winner of the 2006 Diosa de Plata Award for best supporting actor. Also nominated for best actor in the 2005 MTV Movie Awards and worked in the short films “Mariana Made in Tepito” & “Volver, Volver”. Jaime dubbed the voice for Latin America of “Barry” (originally by Jerry Seinfeld) in the Paramount/Dreamworks movie “Bee Movie” and also “Elliot, The Mule Deer” (originally by Ashton Kutcher) in the Sony/Columbia Pictures movie “Open Season”. He is the co-founder of the “Shortshorts Film Festival Mexico” and an ambassador for Unicef in Mexico. In 2007 he leads the musicals “El Diluvio que Viene” playing Silvestre and in Peter Pan playing Capt. Hook alongside Lolita Cortes in México City.

He lead the 2005 bound for Broadway musical “The Mambo Kings” in the role of Nestor Castillo at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco, CA; and worked with Eugenio Derbez in the 2005 Broadway show “Latinologues” directed by Cheech Marin at the Helen Hayes Theater in Ne York. He played Bernardo in the 2004 Mexican production of “West Side Story” and won the equivalent of a Tony award for “Best Lead Actor in a Musical”. He was the leading man in Televisa’s soap operas “Mi Destino Eres Tu” and “Mujer de Madera” (nominated for best actor in the 2005 TV y Novelas Awards). He also led one of the most successful soap opera of all times both in Latin America and in the US: “La Fea Mas Bella” (nominated for best actor in the 2007 TV y Novelas Awards). Over 400 million viewers see televisa’s shows worldwide.

His two platinum selling albums “Para Estar Contigo” & “Una Vez Mas” were produced by Grammy Winners Rudy Perez & Kike Santander. Jaime also participated in the musical recordings of “El Diluvio que Viene” (live recording at The San Rafael Theater) “The Last Goodbye” (produced by Emilio Estefan to help the victims of 9/11), “Zapata Soundtrack” with the Song la Tierra de Mi Pueblo and “La Fea Mas Bella soundtrack” singing a duet written by Amaury Gutierrez with co-star Angelica Vale. He has hosted several events and award shows such as “Premios Juventud 2005”, “Fox Sports Awards”, to mention a few.
